Taking a couple of days away from the Blogging World

I'm signing off for a couple of days.  I'm still going to be around but I'm going to be pulling away for some extended prayer time and journaling... (the old fashioned way to blog).  I'm really looking forward to it because the weather in Auburn's going to be great this week.  I'm headed to a couple of parks and just find some place to listen to God... I believe there's a lot He wants to say to me and to our church...That's why I've got to pull away for a little bit.  I'll hit it again about Thursday or Friday.

Oh, by the way, Yesterday was incredible... the Band was awesome, as always... right before I spoke, they played "Stupid Boy" by Keith Urban and I always like the song, but didn't realize how much it fit where the message was headed... Great job guys.  We're also getting ready to baptize again soon.  We've got about 3 or 4 people who are ready to take the plunge.  I'm pumped about that.

Long time, no Blog

It's been a few days since I blogged last...mainly because we got new carpet in our house and everything's been turned upside down for a few days.  It felt like we were moving again... Thank God we don't have to do that... I hate moving furniture and I hated worse not having the internet...but our carpet looks great and my wife is very happy.  Part of what we did was rearrange some rooms... Abby and Seth traded bedrooms (I  still don't know why, they're the same exact measurements) and I moved the office into a spare bedroom (one that had a door so I could study)... but I gave up a lot more space... so I had to condense my bookcase and file cabinets... only the really essential stuff... Maxwell, Stanley, Young, McManus, Buckingham and a few others... plus I have a closet to shove other stuff in... I'm pretty excited about it... I don't know why, though, I rarely ever study at home anyway.  Enough about that... it was becoming too long and too random. 

I know I've said it before, but I'm pumped up about this Sunday at Journey... I think this could be one of the best weeks we've had... I hope you've been inviting your friends... It's going to be awesome.  See you then.

Why Blog?

As I get back into this blogging world... I had to ask myself, "what do I think I'm doing?... Do I have the time?  Do I even have anything to say?  Well, I talked with some bloggers at the churchplanters.com conference and realized that some would think I'm just jumping on the blogging bandwagon... but then I thought ... so what?... Here's what I plan to use this blog for: 

1.)  Communicating with my church.  We will most likely still send out our email newsletter, but it will simply be announcing upcoming events and giving general information.  My blog will allow me to speak personally with my church folks and those of you who want to "listen in" can do so. 
2.)  Document my spiritual and church planting journey.  This is a pretty personal thing... I've been journaling for about 16 years and I'm pretty open and honest in my journals... this will be a test of my authenticity.  plus... I won't have to buy any more journals so I can save money!
3.) Connecting with other church planters and people I know in ministry that can help us along our journey.

I welcome any thoughts and comments you might have to help make this blog a very cool place.
